A Case of Childhood CNS Cysticercosis Treated with Praziquantel

Abstract
|
|
|
Many cases of CNS cysticercosis have been reported but it is uncommon in childhood.
Recently we experienced a case of CNS cysticercosis in a 7-year old male patient who presented with focal seizure. The patient was diagnosed by brain C-T and test for cysticercus-specific IgG antibody (micro-ELISA) and treated with Praziquantel.
No evidence of serious complication or side effect of praziquantel was observed during treatment. After three months of treatment the C-T scans showed total remission of all cysts and patient were asymptomatic.
We report the case with brief review of literature.
